ENSEMBLE
Like so many men and women that served in our colonial wars, Private John C. Carter of Albemarle County, Virginia was a true American patriot. His service in the War of 1812 was recognized by the issuing to him of a United Stated Land Grant. Like many colonial soldiers, he gifted the land that was grant to him to a relative who developed a township in Iowa. This fine ensemble presents a fine collection of War of 1812 memorabilia that the Carter Family sold to Mr. Charlie Yost, Albemarle County, Virginia in the 1970’s who sold to Gordon Barlow, Swoope, Virginia in 1982 for his collection.
