Tobacco Boxes in Virginia

Imported and domestic tobacco boxes were in high demand in Virginia to keep tobacco fresh after special preparation for snuffing, chewing, and pipe smoking. Shown is a brass and copper tobacco box, probably of French origin, that was found in Virginia.
