Revolutionary War Cutlass
Neat Revolutionary War forged cutlass that was made by an American blacksmith. It is in its original condition with a plain single edged blade with an approximate 3/8 hand forged median ridge, a 22” blade, and is 27 ½” overall. This cutlass has a full iron tang with a raised pommel cap over an oak wood grip that show signs of shrinkages.
The handle is split with repair This is a nice example of an early cutlass sword. See reference of similar cutlass blades in the book “Swords and Blades from the Revolutionary War” by George C Neuman. This 18th century cutlass dates to the F & I War / Revolutionary War era.
PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Todd Moore, a member of the Antique Bowie Knife Association, and frequent contributor to the Antique Bowie Knife Journal. Neat collection history and is a great piece for the 250th anniversary celebration of the Revolutionary War beginning in 2025.
