Hold – Gary Birch Contemporary Hunting Pouch and Powder Horn

Hunting pouch and powder horn by Gary Birch, Cincinnati, Ohio (10” x 11 ½”) (signed GB) . This wonderful set is unsigned as were many of Gary’s early pieces. I purchased the pouch from Gary at the Jerry Noble Show in Indiana in 1980’s. The leather hunting pouch is made using cow hide with stitched red leather band around the flap. The powder horn is 14 ½” around the curve and has a leather cuff at the spout and it also has a integral band at the spout end and a carved stopper. The plug is made of pine and fastened using many forged tacks which is a signature of Gary’s work. The set has a Russell Green River knife in the attached sheath.  Wonderful early Birch set.
